Slow websites provide poor user experience and ranking in the search engines. Through measurement and measures, we can help you get up to speed.
Many people who have a complicated WordPress website or online store find that it is slower than they would like. This is bad for search engine rankings and results in dissatisfied users.
The typical problems
When a page gets slow, there are two typical reasons:
- More and more extensions have been installed, and eventually, there are too many
- The amount of data (products, pages, or other) has grown so much that the extensions you have used do not scale well enough.
The usual ways of trying to solve this often produce a disappointing result.
Typical measures are:
- More powerful servers
- Cache plugins
- Optimization plugins
Unfortunately, these solutions often cost too much or help only until someone puts something in the cart.
In these cases, the underlying cause must be found and resolved.
Measurement and measures
When optimizing websites, we always start by measuring the different components of the website and analyze exactly where the site is slow. We use our own tools for this purpose to reveal the time thieves in detail.
Quite often, we find some low hanging fruit, which in some cases can solve the problem – and it is rarely obvious in advance what these are.
Find alternatives
In other cases, unfortunately, the problem lies in plugins you do need, which can’t withstand the amount of data you’ve come to use. This is difficult to detect during development when the amount of data is small. In these cases, we can make recommendations about alternatives or ways to mitigate the problem (element placement, caching, and so on). In consequence, tailoring may be necessary, which we can offer as a project.
At worst, the only solution is faster servers. We can explain exactly why they are needed and why it helps; and what the alternatives might be.
